New Websites Launched

I’ve been delighted to assist two small local businesses with their online presence recently by designing new websites to showcase their offering.

For these projects, I utilised the website builder platforms of Squarespace and Wix as an affordable solution that still offers a great professional look and feel for the businesses.

Custom Build Norwich

This local independent builder and construction specialist had never had a website before and so wanted to ensure they had an online presence to attract new customers. Targeting homeowners looking to build an extension or renovate their property, I provided a complete service including the set-up, design, copywriting and SEO best practice. We chose the Squarespace platform builder tool as this has lots of flexibility in design and colour choices, creating a look and feel that’s representative of the business and its new logo.

Free the Mind

Free the Mind is run by Sam Grainger, a hypnotherapy specialist who operates from four locations across Norfolk. She had used the Wix platform to build her own website but was looking for specialist support to update the look and feel of the website. This project included the redesign of all pages, advice on content and structure, and adjustments to the company logo which was hand-drawn by Sam.

“Rebecca is a excellent website designer. I received an great service, my website looks amazing. Rebecca listens to what you want to achieve, working with you to create your design. Highly recommend.”

What website platforms are the best?

There are lots of options available to you when developing a website. The Wordpress platform (wordpress.org) is commonly used and there are established plugins to enable all sorts of design capabilities and functions. These include plugins such as Elementor for professionally designed layouts and Woocommerce for webshops and e-commerce platforms. Some of its plugins carry small annual fees and you’ll also want to ensure you’ve got a suitable hosting package if you’re managing the website yourself. Or alternatively, you could use wordpress.com as the builder - this comes with a monthly fee depending on the package you are on and includes hosting.

Other popular platform builders include Wix, Squarespace, Shopify (for e-commerce sites), Go Daddy and Webflow among many others. These all have different package levels and can include the hosting, domain name registration, SSL licence and additional tools.

The good news is that they’re relatively easy to use, with many having drag and drop type templates. That said, it can be daunting to take on the build of a website yourself. That’s where I come in. Over 15 years of working across multiple platforms, organising content, structure and implementing SEO best practice techniques have led me to be well versed in most forms of website development. Plus, if you need something more complex or bespoke, I have good connections with established website developers who can achieve the best outcomes.

Website Review

When was the last time you reviewed your website? Does it represent your business, cover out of date information and are you getting the results you need? An independent audit can help you to understand your results, areas for improvement, and a strategy for increasing your website visibility. I can also help provide training and best practice tips so you can increase your confidence in updating your website yourself.
